SilverAlloy A-40Ni2

INTRODUCTION
Aufhauser SilverAlloy A-40Ni2 may be used on copper, brass, nickel-silver, bronze, steel. Good corrosion properties with stainless steels. Often used in joining tungsten carbides.
APPLICATIONS
SilverAlloy A-40Ni2 is an intermediate temperature silver brazing filler metal with a fairly long (205°F) melting range. It has a tendency to liquate (i.e. separate into low & high melting constituents), and therefore it is preferable to use this filler metal where the assembly can be heated rapidly through the filler metal melting range, or where the assembly can be preheated before the filler metal is applied. Aufhauser White or Black SilverFlux is normally used with SilverAlloy A-40Ni2. Typical applications are the joining of 300-series stainless steels in food, medical, and dental fields. The nickel element in SilverAlloy A-40Ni2 also improves the bond strength when joining tungsten carbide cutting tips.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Generally, the joint strength using SilverAlloy A-40Ni2 will surpass the strengths of the base metals. Strength is a function of the base metals being joined, type of joint, design of joint, joint clearances and brazing procedures.
