Brazing of aluminium air-conditioning components for cars
Air-conditioning in cars is widespread. Because of the need for lightweight components aluminium is a natural choice for air-conditioning components. Aufhauser offers a range of products for brazing this type of component. Brazing preforms such as rings and pressed or stamped washers are often specified as is brazing paste.

Brazing of heat exchangers
Brazed joints are made commonly on copper air coil heaters / heat exchangers using Aufhauser brazing filler metals. Copper return bends are brazed using PhosCopper 5 brazing filler metal, whilst copper to copper joints on connecting pipe-work are made with PhosCopper 0. May be used where other metals such as brass or mild steel components are involved.

Brazing of heated towel rails
Heated towel rails are now widely used in the home as well as in hotels. They are often constructed from brass tubes and fittings that are brazed together and subsequently plated. The brazing filler metal must have a comparatively low melting point so as not to melt or distort the brass. Brazed joints must be smooth and neat in their appearance. In most cases therefore, the filler metal will need to be free-flowing. Aufhauser has developed SilverAlloy A-45T for this application although some customers prefer to use SilverAlloy A-56T.
In some cases the design of the towel rails is such that the joint gaps between the tubes / fitting is not easy to control. In these cases a less free-flowing filler metal that is a better gap-filler can be used.

Brazing of heating elements
Heating elements are manufactured using a variety of parent metals for a range of different applications. Parent metals used can be, for example, copper and copper alloys, stainless steel and nickel chromium alloys. Choice of brazing or soldering filler metal will be determined by the parent metals, service conditions, joint gaps and heating methods. For further advice on the correct choice of filler metal and flux, consult Aufhauser technical department.
Brazing of filter driers for refrigeration and air-conditioning systems
Brazing of filter driers for refrigeration and air-conditioning systems on a mass production basis is best achieved using a continuous furnace with a reducing atmosphere. The choice of brazing filler metal will depend on the parent metals involved (mild steel body and cap with copper outlet tube or all mild steel components). A copper-tin brazing filler metal will be necessary with copper outlet tubes on filter driers for refrigeration systems, while copper can be used for mild steel to mild steel joints with interference fits, and B-Bronze for variable joint gaps. Brazing rings are a common product form for these brazing filler metals in this type of application.
